guys, wanna share my eperience with ethanol blend fuels particularly that of shell. the car in use is a 2004 xtrail 200x. pansin ko lang parang tumaas yung idling ko. nag-oover 1k rpm siya that definitely equates to higher fuel consumption on my part. before kasi happy ako with velocity then decided last sunday to try shell's e10 blend. and one more thing during morning start ups parang tagal ma-reach ng engine ko yung time na bumaba na yung rpm nya (before i hit the road). any same exoperience?

Approved na ba E10 ng Nissan Phil? AFAIK, I remember them releasing a statement that is ok but not recommended or something like that.

I use Shell super unleaded, wala namang tope.

The government has announced about the E10 before and from what i know, newer models can take the 10% ethanol and there should be no problem but I haven't tried it though.

to be honest, i havent tried it, nor do i know of anyone else who has. as far as the plant goes, parng wala naman feedback na they do not recommend use of this, as long as the octane rating is the same.

regarding the increase in idle speed, thats usually a symptom of a lean air-fuel mixture. better have it checked at your nissan dealer just to be sure... Wink

Shell's E10 is only 93 octane. Buti pa yun Seaoil Extreme is 97 octane. It's really a risk to be using these fuels though as it could have long term effects on the fuel lines and gas tank.

Just an update on my e10 methanol blend use. Laki ng nilakas ng consumption ko compared to the time when I was using velocity(v-power).

Conan: Have you tried shell's v-power? How is it compared to seaoil?

The increase in consumption would be expected since Ethanol has lower energy than gasoline plus with an octane rating of only 93 mahina talaga yan. Unfortunately my car's in the shop and requires major engine repair so I haven't had a chance to use V-Power, but I only use Blaze in my 200SX. Note sure if X2 has tried loading Seaoil.

nope, i haven't tried it yet. Just had a discussion with my cousin who works for petron. E10 will be available soon from petron. As for the consumption, not yet sure of the effects that will happen to our ride. As for your inquiry conan about why was blaze's octane rating reduced from 97 to 96, it's actually because of the .5 ingredient that can carcinogenic problems. that's why the octane was reduced to 96.5 to be exact.

You're welcome and by the way for those who might want to know the difference between V-power and Velocity, they're both the same, it's just a re-launch of the velocity Laughing

Hi guys, I hope I can get some recommendations re: fuel..

My Xty 2005 is used to Petron Xtra Unleaded, 93 octane which was what I believe is recommended for the Xty engine.

Yesterday I went to petron for a refill and found that they stopped selling their Xtra unleaded gasoline and replaced it with E10 which was 95 octane.

They recommended XCS which was at the same octane level as of the E10 which I eventually decided to use.

Though napansin ko lang na I can't feel the engine pulling in but I can get to a much higher speed faster.. yun lang nga, mas malakas din ung consumption ko compared to the unleaded.

Anyone using the same Petron unleaded? What other gasoline do you recommend?

is it safe to just change brands right away for example using caltex's unleaded gas? or anything that is of 93 octane?

sorry, am quite a noob at this.. thanks for your future help.
