As a rule, you should also consider having a regular check-up of your tire pressure, wheel alignment, and balancing. Under inflated tires will cause your fuel consumption to also go up so as for misalignned wheels.

Hi guys. I just bought a second hand 2005 X-Trail 200X, and I must say I'm very happy with my purchase.

I have one major complaint though, and that is the fuel consumption. I'm not really expecting high marks for this since this is an SUV after all. But so far, my consumption has been 4km/l City Driving, 5.5km/l with some Hi-way driving. Based on what you've posted here, most of you guys get an average of 7-8 km/l for City Driving.

How do you think I can improve my fuel consumption? Do you suggest a complete tune up since my Xty is a second hand unit? The current mileage btw is 16,000kms.

Thanks in advance.

yon can make some imrovements like using a better engine oil, atf, and gear oil. You cn also try using an after market spark pulgs, modify your intake and exhaust. But just changing the lubricants, you will already notice an improvement in your mileage

i get about 8.8 kms / liter city (this includes a drive up and down slex, alabang to makati) and 11 kms / liter highway. i usually load up with caltex silver.

by the way, i noticed the pump prices in fuel stations along shaw boulevard are the lowest in metro manila.

Change your oil to Motul or Mobil 1 with a viscosity of 5W-40 or 0W-40. Get a tune-up/replace spark plugs, preferably Denso Iridium if you can afford it.
