|
|
I had my new tint purchased and installed at LA CAR ACCESSORIES (along Mayapis cor Malugay St., Makati) last December 30, 2008. I chose the shop because they have a separate room for tint installation. After the installation, I noticed that there was a "bump" or bukol on the rear door of my xtrail (upper portion near the hinged). It looks like that something was put on that area and dented the rear door. I theorized that the installer might have put a rod or something on it to prevent the rear door from coming up while tinting the rear door from the inside. Or he might have accidentally left something on it that might have damaged the door. I brought it back to the shop this January. The owner, Amir, with one of his installer explained to me that it is impossible that something was put on it, since it is not their SOP and it can not hold the weight of the door. On the other hand, he promised to check their video recording to clear things up. Today, I followed up through email about his recordings, he told me that they have turned off their main switch last December 31, rebooting their DVR, therefore, THEY DON'T HAVE ANY VIDEO RECORDINGS ANYMORE! Well, it could have cleared all the theories about the mysterious "bukol".
Now, I dont know what to do with the annoying dent that mysteriously appeared. |

Without seeing the extent of the dent and its location, you may try ...
- Ziebart has a paintless dent removal technique (around P1.5k to 3k per dent)
- Have it assessed at Nissan U.N. Ave.
Btw, I had my XTrail's windshield tint done at LA Cars, too. Their 3M tint was completely ineffective against the Sun's heat. It kept deforming the rearview mirror / backup sensor display. The windshield was also very hot to touch. In the end, I had the tint replaced at Nissan Mantrade (same 3M tint), and it immediately fixed my problem. _________________

Notorious yan si LA Cars. Better to avoid them.. For tints try Solar Gard, I think they moved their shop to santolan, tapat ng wheel gallery. They have a 5 year warranty. Had my tint done there, ok naman so far _________________

For tints, there are 2 kinds... one is metallized and the other one is dyed..do not use the dyed one, it will fade over time, say 2 years , it is what you often see with tints becoming purple, that is a dyed tint..not only does it give you less heat rejection (like around 30%) , it is also too dark.
the other one is metallized, gives you high heat rejection of around 65% to 75% depending on the shade of the tint. (Solar Guard , Sun Guard, 3M, Platinum).
Also , dont be fooled by Fake 3M tints around the market. they will say it is genuine 3M because of the 3M logo on the tint.. there are 2 kinds of 3M logo, one that letter "M" has horizontal lines on it (this is original), the other one looks like 3M pizza logo, this is fake(made in India).. _________________

| shadow3616931, thanks for the link that you provided. Indeed L.A. cars has a very bad reputation. I will not be surprised if this guy will be banned on other forums. |
