..hi everyone..
..i have a 2008 white xtrail full option, with spoiler and sunroof..
..the stock unit was only 6 CD changer and does not play mp3..
..also i thought it was a 6 speaker system but unfortunately it has only
4, 2 in the front and 2 in the rear..
..i checked the dashboard and noticed that on both ends on the top of the dashboard was what looks like speaker covering, the one on top of the A/C vents on the sides..
.. I opened it and there was enough space behind it to put in additional speakers and a tweeter..
.. the cover was perfect to conceal the speakers and tweeter as it was made exactly to be speaker cover on the dashboard..
..now i want to to install the additional speakers and tweeters by myself since i know that much to do it and also save some bucks..
..before i start this project, i would like to ask some advice and help from everyone..
..can someone send a wiring diagram of the xtrail where i can connect the aditional speakers, a detailed procedure would be better so to avoid much trial and error.
..also the best speakers possible to get to install in there..
..i would really appreaciate any help and tahnk you in advance.. |

Welcome to the forum domonlayer I'm no expert when it comes to the X-Trail's sound system but I'll call some members who have installed one in their cars for you. _________________ we ride together, we die together...bad boys for life...

i'm also trying to upgrade my xty's sound system.. to add amplifiers, speakers, sub woofers, touch screen HU --- the works.. budget permitting
i checked the websites posted here and managed to get some cost .. this sort of upgrade would reach close to 100k pala but the sound quality is worth it especially during a long drive..
i checked:
dawg audio
mickey's autosound
La cars
for the head unit.. jvc 810/820 7" touchscreen..approx 25-32k
for the fiber glass enclosure/etc.. approx 35k..1 month to complete
for JBL sound cruiser package.. approx 25-32k
=== 99k wow..
can someone suggest a good alternative for a similar setup or a shop that can setup all?
tnx.. |

You dont have to spend so much on a fiber glass enclosure. there are other options out there. You could have a wooden enclosure but still get it to look stock for less than 35k.
If you're ok with it looking a little or a lot less than stock then it could be waaay cheaper. A basic enclosure for a sub would run around 2 or 3k, if im right. |

Nakakataba naman ng puso yan - salamat sa iyo boss x15
To PapaX,
There are many parameters to consider when planning your ICE system - like what sir pump-mann stated above - you have to set your goals.
In example, is this system for everyday driving or are you planning on competing?, is it for SQ or SPL? Is your design consideration showy or stealth?
Once you have these parameters down, then you can possibly explore the number of gears needed to achieve your goal. After that, then you can explore what brands & if their physical size can fit in your desired location.
I would even suggest you to make a rough working drawing of your vehicle so you could see in paper the real estate that your chosen gears will eat.
One thing I can assure you is that the success of your ICE project doesnt solely rely on the equipment but on the install.
Low end gear installed correctly will outperform high-end gear in a wrong install |

tnx guys..
i actually chanced upon the post of macdon and its really awesome.. tnx for the step by step.. blow by blow update..hehe..
actually..most of the rides here are really great..
for my case, its not for competition and an old guy like me just want a good sound in the car..i dont mind if its hidden or showing..as long as it wont eat up all the space at the back..
.. the tricky part is the installation nga.. at least i have a rough idea on the price..
macdon, care to share how much the install cost you? or can you direct me to the shop that made yours? |

Ive been in & out of car audio for the past 20yrs but it was only a few years ago that I experienced what "pro-install" means
Typical installs are those like in Banawe shops wherein they do a complete install in just 1 day - too many horror stories to mention here. In short, you're lucky already if it only looks grotesque - any consideration for safety, SQ and aesthetics is seriously out the door.
Granted that a pro-install maybe a bit more expensive than typical installs, but you'll certainly thank me in the long run
My installer is Raymond Tan who resides in Las Pinas & does installs in his own garage. He has no other workers & prefers to work alone. He is an Electronics Engineer.
A typical pro-installer will remove ALL your seats & all the carpets to lay down the wires from your head unit all the way to the back. He separates the power lines, to the RCA lines as well as the speaker lines. The way that all these lines are done is up to par or better than what the car manufacturer does - this also solves any possibility of static in your vehicle. You may change equipment in the future, but rest assured your wires were laid down properly.
In my case, I do DIY stuff - I make my own amp rack & sub box, I buy the gears/components/wires & i let my pro-installer connect them all for about 1.5k-2k - labor. That takes about 2 days.
Naturally, you can let Raymond do the woodworks for your car like the sub box or amp rack as he does complete installs but pricing depends on complexity, aesthetics, finish, etc. He does work depending on your budget as well. His typical installs do run in weeks & sometimes a month long - really depends on the complexity of the project.
He is really OC and he doesnt hide any audio secrets from you - the wealth of info that I get while waiting for hours while he does the install is already worth the price of admission
I remember the time when I first went to him for my pajero install......it was about 2am when he was installing my seps in the kick panel when he asked me if I want the screw heads to be oriented in a "x" or "+" configuration.......it made me think for a few seconds when I suddenly mustered "eh bakit mo tinanong yan.....matatakpan naman ng grille yan diba?"
He just said that if the time comes that I need to remove the grilles, I'll be happy at what I will see
My pro-installer wont allow any new holes in any part of the car - he will exhaust any possibility which he always does. His goal is to provide you with the best install based on your budget and when the time comes you remove all your ICE components - nobody will ever notice that you previously placed an ICE install.
Once you experience a pro-install, I bet you wouldnt dare anybody handling your ICE install from now on |
