good day club x members!
i own a 2nd hand '04 model. i am thinking of upgrading the audio system but i only have a limited budget - between P20 - P30k. i am hoping to change the speakers, install subs, amps and if budget permits - replace the HU since the CD is not working anymore. i am simply after sound quality. hopefully the subs will not take up too much space as i maximize the trunk space.
i heard that mickeys is good but my budget is limited.
again, thank you very much in advance for whatever suggestions you may have |

A lot of folks are saying that this certain Jeff Tan in Araneta Ave could do wonders in any budget.
I havent met the guy nor been to his shop (malayo kasi sa amin), but have been seeing his name pop-up in various car audio discussions. |

Hmm, as for me i was not satisfied with the work done at Araneta Car Accessories. Hindi maalaga ang mechanics sa panels, clips, screws, etc.
I moved to Auto Centro, Cubao instead.. The shop's name is SunX and was very much satisfied with the work done. The owner's name is Eric --a very accommodating guy! Kahit matanong ako about the work being done, he would take time to explain what they were doing. Minsan, pag wala mashadong tao, siya pa mismo gagawa ng Xtrail ko _________________ masakit man sa bulsa, masarap naman sa mata! |

In terms of labor, not that much difference. Almost the same.. If ever, mga Php 300 difference lang. I always bring the parts kasi eh. I just have them installed. I usually go online to look for stuff i like. (if there are for sale or where to get good deals on audio items. it's cheaper that way, tiyagaan lang to look for a great deal)
Just to compare prices, based on what i read in other forums, Audio items like head units, amps, subs are cheaper at Araneta Cars. Okay sana but there are a lot of issues with regard to the quality of work plus my experiences narin with the shop.
Coming from Katipunan Extension, turn right at P. Tuazon and go straight until the stop light of Alimall. Make a right turn at the stop light and you'll find Auto Centro just after the Bus Station. Mga 200 meters lang siguro. _________________ masakit man sa bulsa, masarap naman sa mata! |

One of the things I've learned a few years ago, is "pro" install - whereby its not just those 1-day installs like some being done in Banawe. Of course in those shops, the faster they do your car, the more customers they can do in a day & if you're one of those unfortunate ones who's install is stretching thru late afternoon/early night where the workers are already tired - there might be some shortcuts in your install
When I first encountered my very first pro installer, I was surprised that he would take all the seats off the vehicle & remove the whole carpeting so he could lay out properly the wires - segregated into power, speaker & signal cables.
The biggest OC I heard asked of me is if I want the screw heads in my speaker to be a "T" or an "X" |

Yup! You're right. Actually i prefer spending a couple of days with an install provided that i can be "worry free" afterward. I had to learn that the hard way! But now, always choose work quality over work speed! Even if i spend 2-3days for the install, it's okay as long as i won't have to come back for back jobs.
Kaya now, as much as possible, i try to do things on my own. Although nothing big, just simple DIY's. At least sigurado ako with what i do _________________ masakit man sa bulsa, masarap naman sa mata! |

When I first met my pro installer - I had everything all set from gears to wires to cables.....my amp rack & sub box was already made & painted so basically what my installer had to do was just that - install. Still it took him about 16 hours as the ingress of my car for a show was already the next day That was already a rushed job.
Now, a full install by my installer complete with woodworks takes him 2 weeks to complete whereby his customers just leave their cars to him for weeks. Definitely no shortcuts
The success of your car audio doesnt necessarily depend on the gears, but on the install if it was done properly. |
