|

Hello everyone!
After being able to join a couple of Relief Operations after Typhoon Ondoy, i finally decided to upgrade to bigger tires rather than buying a new set of mags. Was thinking about the same size lang as the ones that come stock with the Montero, Hi Lux or Fortuner.
Will i have rubbing issues with 225/ 70-75?/16, 235/ 70-75?/16 or 255/ 70-75?/16?
Can you guys help me identify cons of changing to bigger tires?
Actually, road noise lang ang main concern ko but i guess that's tolerable. What else? Will the handling suffer as well?
Also, i noticed that ang baba talaga ng likod ng x trail ko when i have 3 passengers at the back plus luggage or when we put approximately 200- 250 bags of relief goods so i was thinking of getting a lifter kahit 1" - 1.5" lang.
My brother used lifters for the rear before nung mashado siya nababaan sa drop ng auto niya. As far as i can remember.. the ride was okay.
Okay lang kaya na magkabit din ako ng lifter for the rear shocks of my Xtrail?
Thanks Guys! _________________ masakit man sa bulsa, masarap naman sa mata! |

you can't put lifters on only the rear suspension, masisira lang suspension mo sayang, if you're putting lifters put it on all four wheels, also replace your stock shocks while you're at it. You can invest on lifter kits, check out xtrail australia (search mo lang sa google) those guys lift their xtrails instead of lowering it.
Re Tires, it'll look like a donut, yes handling will suffer, since the tires will have softer and taller sidewalls than stock. _________________

Thanks Junlao! So we can fit 225 or even 235/70/16s even with the stock height.
I also came across this site, same guy. I want his set up! Exactly what i was looking for.

I want those rubber lifters (strut spacers?) too. although my problem with the load capacity won't be solved at least i would gain some height. Still doing more research though.
Most likely i'll get the tires first by December which gives me more time to think. tires are expensivveeee! i want a set of BF Goodrich tires but for sure that would cost way more. Might settle for Goodyear, Bridgestone or Dunlop instead. i have to check the prices first. _________________ masakit man sa bulsa, masarap naman sa mata! |

Got this from the link Nissanforums, posted by Bas.
Strut: Plus: Good solid 50mm increase, with no chance of spring sag. Maintains original soft ride. No change to original shock travel and compression lengths.
Minus: Load carrying capacity is not changed.
Spring: Plus: Increase in load carrying capacity. Firmer suspension, resulting in more stable ride. Less shock fade over corrugations due to less pressure being placed upon shock, with spring controlling shock more efficiently.
Minus: Springs may sag after time, reducing lift. Suspension travel is slightly shortened due to increase in shock ride height.
In short, if you are only after a lift to impress your mates in the carpark, then the strut would be my choice. If you want better off-road benefits, and carry more stuff, then the spring lift would be preferred. This is why I chose the spring lift. Although my shock travel is slightly less now, I have not been in any situation where it has caused me any problems. _________________ masakit man sa bulsa, masarap naman sa mata! |
