Is it normal that the aircon compressor disengages when the xty is still, like for example in a parking lot or in heavy traffic? Is it a safety feature to keep the temp normal? I tried to park under the sun while nagloloko then I opened the hood, after around 10 mins ok na.
Just wondering if you also encounter this.
Thanks and more power to club X! _________________ JDM XLM |

| Normally, the compressor automatically disengages when temperature that you have set was already reached. This is assuming that you set your temperature slighly lower than the normal temperature. But when you set it to a much lower temperature on a hot day and you still feel hot because the compressor stops, have the vehicle checked. For me there's really no rule of thumb for the temperature settings although it would help the compressor if you set it only on how cold you need it to be. Regular cleaning or replacement of the cabin flter will assure you of the extended life of your air con system. |

if your a/c control is manual set the rotary switch for thermostat to about 9 o'clock, around half way through the blue colored section.
if your a/c control is digital set the high and low temps to about 25 and 20 degrees or which ever temperatures you are comfortable with. not too high na iinit masayado sa loob. and not too low, preventing auto shut off.
this will allow automatic on/off switching of your compressor. once the inside temp reaches the lower settings the compressor will switch off. one the inside temp reaches the higher settings the compressor will automatically switch on again.
search the forum on how to clean the in cabin filter. baka ito lang ang kailangan for now.
i guess we all feel the heat of summer. baka naman hindi yung a/c mo ang may problema. we have been hitting highs of 36 degrees here in the metro. in other parts of the country nag 39 degrees na! |

| Although it can be washed, the effect won't still be the same if you repalced it with a new one. It will come a time that filter can no longer be used. There are air cabin filters out there that is cheaper but still has the same effect as with the oem. |

| Actually, it's every 13,000 km but I think it would not be applicable for the Philippines considering the dusts and smoke. For me, i'm using the 10,000 km rule just to make sure. It would prolong the life of the eveporator and lessen the burden on the blowers. |

Hi sir!
Female driver here I recently got a second-hand 2007 X-trail 2.0 Black (last July). Performance was great, except for the aircon (cannot seem to reach the second row) and the fuel consumption (just averaging 6-7km/li at the most), everything else works just fine for me.
My x-trail was one of the very many vehicle casualties of the recent massive flooding (due to TS Ondoy). The flood went up to level of foglamps but since parking was inclined, most of the water stayed at the compartment area. Because of the terrible vehicle repair traffic in all dealers, I decided to have it checked by a detailing shop owned by a friend. They were able to fix a lot of items (ie detailing work, some mechanical checking), but when they released the unit last week, I noticed that the compressor does not automatically disengage when temperature set was already reached.
You mentioned that the normal process is the compressor should automatically disengage. When I got my x-trail last July, yes this statement is true. However, after the flooding, compressor does not automatically disengage anymore. What do you think could be the problem here?
Initally, they told me that the thermostat just needs cleaning. Do you have other suggestions? Do you have any idea on the cost of cleaning the a/c filter and thermostat?
Grateful for your kind assistance please. Thanks so much!
Cheers,
Kat |
