|
|
A friend of mine installed a cold air intake to his toyota corolla and according to him the fuel consumption of the car was lessen and there was added power to his engine.
What will happen if I will intall a cold air intake to my XT? Will the car be more less fuel consumption+performance or higher fuel consumption+performance? |

Hi Lopezxisove, there's a thread here somewhere about the effects of a cold air intake...however, in a nutshell, the more air you can cram into your engine the more gasoline you can burn (more combustion=more power) and since cold air is denser, you can cram more of it in a given space (your cylinder) and burn more fuel as a result which should lead to more power. The CAI will also make your engine more efficient and theoretically you should save on fuel because you need to press on the throttle less to get the same power. I say theoretically because most people get addicted to the sound of the CAI and end up reving harder just to hear it _________________ we ride together, we die together...bad boys for life...

the increase in fuel consumption is very common among new owners of cold air intakes.
The reason being that they tend to rev more (because they want to hear it) and to feel the power they tend to stomp on the gas each and everytime, sympre excited.
drive normally and you will see better mileage. |
